The Kérygma Centre presents a one-of-a-kind exhibition on the land of Jesus and on the Bible. Come and treat yourself to a passion-filled trip in period settings that will fascinate you. You will discover the customs and places related to the Palestine and learn more about the biblical world. Five original and colourful displays will garantee you a visit full of adventure.

OLD NORANDA HISTORIC INTERPRETATION

Take a look around one of the oldest areas in the city of Rouyn-Noranda with the help of historic information panels. Discover the heritage, architecture and history of the old city of Noranda going back to the early 1920s. Learn about one of the biggest mines ever discovered in Quebec.

Stroll around the other twin city with its rich history, and see its changing scene with the help of seven panels spread around the old city of Rouyn. When you follow this tour, you’ll be going back in time through period photos of the buildings.

RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

Have an enriching experience with a guided tour of this commemorative historic site, built in 1955 with an architectural style that really stands out in the urban landscape. You’ll make an emotional discovery of the fabulous heritage of another era and the rites of the Russian Orthodox religion. The interpretation centre on immigration, located in the basement, shows how Rouyn-Noranda was enriched by the contribution of immigrants who came mainly from Europe. A 12-minute historical video presents the people who built the city’s history and contributed to enriching its economic, cultural and social life.

THE DUMULON HOUSE

When Jos Dumulon opened his general store in 1924, he suspected that Rouyn and Noranda would experience a rapid and eventful evolution. An original interpretation tour lets you discover the story of the Dumulon family, the city’s first merchants, and the story of the boomtowns that Rouyn and Noranda became, with their destiny linked to mining discoveries. Visit the first general store, the first post office and one of Rouyn’s first
homes, and delve into the not-so-distant past, with each object paying homage to the work of pioneers. In the summer, a monologue rounds out the visit. Also see the souvenir shop selling handicrafts and regional products, open year-round with no entry fee.
